Wilkerson Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Returning to the bench for the Covenant men's basketball team this season will be a familiar face. Peter Wilkerson has been named the full-time assistant men's basketball coach, announced head coach Kyle Taylor recently.

Wilkerson replaces Brian Millar, who departed Covenant to become the Athletic Director at St. Anthony Junior-Senior High School in Wailuku, Hawaii.

Wilkerson, a graduate of Covenant in 2013, spent last season as the assistant coach at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. His job duties included game analytics, redshirt development and overseeing the recruit database for the NCAA Division II program.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to coach not only at the collegiate level, but at my alma mater," said Wilkerson.

"I am very excited about Coach Wilkerson's return to Covenant," commented Taylor. "He had a great experience at Maryville University and learned a lot from a very good college basketball coach in Kevin Carroll. Maryville runs the same offense we do, so I'm excited to learn and integrate the variations and teaching points that Peter learned under Coach Carroll."

During his time as a student at Covenant, Wilkerson was a part of the men's basketball program as either a player or a student assistant for Taylor. Wilkerson graduated in 2013 with a degree in History.

"I really needed someone who could recruit, and recruit to Covenant College specifically," continued Taylor. "Peter knows this place well and will work incredibly hard on the recruiting trail."
