1984-85 Men's Basketball

Under head coach Gene Fitzgerald, the Scots basketball team produced the best season in program history to date in the 1984-85 season. The Scots finished the year with a 17-14 overall record and advanced to the NCCAA national tournament for the first time.

The team was led by second team NCCAA All-American Eddie Salter and All-District honorees Billy White and Jeff Parks. Fitzgerald, in his eighth season, was named District Coach of the Year.

The Scots captured the NCCAA District 5 championship with an 100-64 rout of Clearwater Christian in the title game that earned Covenant a berth into the national tournament.

Earning the fifth seed in the national tournament, which was played at Tennessee Temple's McGilvray Gymnasium, Covenant faced off against fourth-seeded Taylor University. The Scots fell behind early before making a run in the second half, but the Trojans were victorious 68-55.

The 1984-85 season was the second of four straight winning years for the Scots, the best four-year stretch in program history.
