McGriff Named Third Team All-USA South, Boyd All-Sportsmanship

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South Athletic Conference announced its 2013-14 All-Conference awards for men's basketball on Wednesday morning and Covenant's Colton McGriff was selected to the third team.

Maryville, the league's regular season champion, had the Player of the Year in Jaumonee Byrd and Randy Lambert was named Coach of the Year. Greensboro's Devan Gregory was voted Rookie of the Year.

McGriff, a junior from Birmingham, Ala., ranked seventh in the conference in scoring average at 15.4 points per game. The junior averaged 7.2 rebounds per contest, which ranked fifth in the league. McGriff had six double-doubles on the season, including a stretch of three straight in December, and scored in double figures 18 times with a career-high 35 points at Bethany Lutheran on December 7.

McGriff earned USA South Player of the Week honors twice.

Sophomore Chris Boyd was Covenant's representative on the USA South All-Sportsmanship team.

Covenant finished the season with an 8-17 record and a 3-11 mark in the conference.
