Frierson Voted CoSIDA Academic All-District

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Junior guard Nate Frierson was voted to the Capital One Academic All-District team presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), announced the organization on Thursday. 

Frierson, a first-time honoree, will now be entered into the Academic All-America voting which begins next week.

A native of Laurel, Md., Frierson is having his best season as a Scot. The 5-foot-9 guard is averaging 8.6 points, 3.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds and shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the 3-point line on the year. He set a new career-high with 23 points, including a 12-of-15 effort from the free throw line, in a 94-90 overtime win against Berry on Dec. 14.

Frierson has been solid in the classroom as well as he boasts a grade point average of 3.87 with a major in History. He was a NCCAA Scholar-Athlete honoree last season and was named to the GSAC All-Academic team as a freshman in 2011-12.

In order to be nominated for this award, players must have a GPA of 3.3 or higher and be a significant contributor to their team. The ballot is then voted on by various Sports Information personnel within the district.
