Both basketball teams were in action this week after taking a lengthy Thanksgiving break. The men went 1-2 with a victory over Bethany Lutheran, while the women were 0-1 with a loss to Oglethorpe on Saturday.
BY THE NUMBERS:
35: Number of points scored by men's basketball's Colton McGriff in Saturday's 94-76 win at Bethany Lutheran. It was a career-high for the junior from Birmingham, Ala., as he made 14-of-24 from the field. It was the first 35-point game by a Scot since Reed Crosson achieved the feat on Feb. 9, 2008 in a 121-84 win over Virginia Intermont. Also the first 30-point game for a Covenant player since Callum Sears had 30 against Rust on Feb. 12, 2011.
94: The points scored by the men's team in Saturday's win at Bethany Lutheran. It marked the first time since Jan. 25, 2012 against Piedmont that the Scots have reached 90 points in a game (91-78 win).
The women's basketball team had a tough shooting night in a 62-35 loss to Oglethorpe on Saturday as they made 23.2 percent for the game... The women hope to sweep the season series against Sewanee when they two schools meet on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Sewanee... The men return home to play Birmingham Southern and Berry this Friday and Saturday... The women will also host Berry on Saturday... The men's soccer team was awarded the USA South Sportsmanship Award for their sport
