Scots Weekly: Stats & Notes (Nov. 25-30)

With Thanksgiving break looming this past week, the Covenant basketball teams played just one game apiece before having players head off in different directions. On Tuesday, the women improved their record to 3-2 with a 65-52 win at Oglethorpe before the the men dropped an 86-55 decision to the Stormy Petrels.


15.3: Average margin of victory for the women's basketball team in their three wins this season. The Scots have won games by 12, 21, and 13 points. Additionally, in the three victories Covenant is limiting opponents to 50.7 points per contest.

18: Number of free throws made by the women's basketball team in their victory over Oglethorpe. The 18 made free throws, and the 29 total attempted, were a season-high for the Scots.

17: Number of points for men's basketball junior Bryant Engbers in the loss to Oglethorpe. It was the most points for him since his career-high 26 against Piedmont on January 25, 2012 (freshman season). Engbers was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

2,310: The number of miles, roughly, that the men's basketball team will travel this week. The Scots play Emory in Atlanta on Tuesday followed by a trip to Minnesota to face Crown (Friday) and Bethany Lutheran (Saturday).


Women's basketball senior Kiaira Cooper was close to a double-double on Tuesday with 16 points and nine rebounds. Cooper has never recorded a double-double in her collegiate career, but has been close several times including Tuesday... Women's basketball returns to action on Saturday when they host Oglethorpe at 2 p.m. inside Barnes Physical Education Center... The men's team will not return home until December 13 against Birmingham Southern.
