CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's basketball team wrapped up the exhibition portion of its schedule on Friday night by facing Division I neighbor Chattanooga. The Mocs, under first year head coach Will Wade, used a 14-0 run to start the game and never looked back as they captured a 119-56 win.
Covenant will open the regular season against Berry next Friday, November 15 in Rome, Ga.
In front of 4.637 at McKenzie Arena, including a large Covenant contingent, the Scots faced a stiff challenge in a full-court pressing Chattanooga squad.
Nate Frierson led the Scots with 11 points, including 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Teron Ferguson and Robby Bell each had eight points while Chris Boyd and Colton McGriff grabbed five rebounds apiece.
Covenant was held to just under 28 percent shooting, but the Scots did make 22-of-30 from the free throw line.
Seven players scored in double figures for the Mocs led by 19 points from Gee McGhee.
The game was an exhibition for Covenant, but counted in the win column for Chattanooga.
