Gillespie Tabbed USA South Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- For the second time this season, Covenant baseball senior Scott Gillespie has been named USA South Player of the Week, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.

Gillespie also earned player of the week accolades on Feb. 8.

The senior from Milton, Ga., helped lead Covenant to a 4-0 week by batting .429 (6-for-14) with two home runs, five RBIs and seven runs scored. In a 15-14 win over Sewanee, Gillespie was 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBIs, two runs scored and two walks. In a three-game sweep of USA South foe Greensboro, Gillespie was a combined 4-for-10 with five runs scored, two RBIs, two doubles, one home run and two walks.

For the year, Gillespie is hitting .333 with five home runs and 24 RBIs. He is also inching closer towards 200 career hits as he sits at 194 with seven games left.

Covenant (14-17, 10-11 USA South) will be back in action on Tuesday at home against Emory at 4 p.m.
