LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant baseball program, under ninth-year head coach Doug Simons, has unveiled its 2015 schedule. The Scots will play 40 games overall, including 21 at home and 30 inside the USA South.
The season will begin on Friday, Feb. 6 when the Scots open a three-game weekend series against Emory & Henry. The two teams will play a single game on Friday then play two 7-inning affairs on Saturday.
The following weekend, Covenant begins its quest for consecutive USA South regular season titles with a three-game series against Methodist at home on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14. After a series at Piedmont, the Scots will close out February with a conference series against William Peace on Feb. 27-28.
USA South foes Maryville (March 20-21), Greensboro (April 10-11) and Huntingdon (April 17-18) also travel to Lookout Mountain this season.
Covenant will play three games against NCAA tournament teams from 2014 in Birmingham Southern (March 13-14) and at home against Emory (April 14).
- William Peace is the Scots' lone new opponent this season. The Pacers are in their first year of USA South play.
- Covenant will be traveling to Ferrum, Averett and North Carolina Wesleyan for the first time
- Feb. 6 will be the third-earliest date that Covenant has started a season and the earliest since 2008 when the Scots began the year on Feb. 2.
