INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Covenant baseball team received the six-seed in the South Regional of the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament, announced early Monday morning by the NCAA.
Covenant (26-13) will take on the regional's top-seed Shenandoah (31-9) in the opening round in Demorest, Ga. Date and time will be announced later on Monday.
Joining Covenant and Shenandoah in the six-team regional is second-seed Emory, third-seed Birmingham Southern, fourth-seed Bridgewater (Va.) and fifth-seed Rhodes. Covenant played Birmingham Southern twice this season, falling in both contests, and is 3-5 all-time against Emory. The Scots have never played Shenandoah, Bridgewater or Rhodes.

Covenant, in its first year as full members of NCAA Division III and the USA South Athletic Conference, is making its first trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Scots won a program-record 26 regular season games in 2014 and claimed the USA South regular season title. This marks the second straight year that Covenant will participate in a national tournament as they made it to the NCCAA World Series in 2013.
