FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Eight players from the USA South champion Covenant baseball team earned spots on the USA South All-Conference teams, announced the league on Wednesday morning. Five players were selected to the first team, while two were on the second team and one on the third team.

Covenant garnered the most players on the All-Conference teams with eight. Ferrum placed six players on the three teams.

Will Cleland, Perry Rigby, David Lockwood, Will Carlton and Garrett Kriston were all chosen to the first team. Scott Gillespie and Chris Rollins were second team selections and KC Simons was a third team choice. Paul Phillips was Covenant's representative on the All-Sportsmanship team.

Cleland, a junior from Jacksonville, Fla., is second on the team in hitting with a .343 average to go with a team-high six triples. The junior has driven in 31 runs and stolen 18 bases. Cleland was named USA South Player of the Week on March 17 following a week in which he batted .474. Kriston has compiled three complete-games and has 71 strikeouts in 69 innings of work while allowing opponents to hit .233.
