FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Coming off a title-clinching weekend sweep of Averett, sophomores Will Carlton and Garrett Kriston have earned weekly USA South awards. Carlton was named Player of the Week while Kriston was selected as the Pitcher of the Week, announced the conference on Monday morning.
This marks the third time this season that Kriston has been named Pitcher of the Week. Carlton earns his honor for the first time this year. All told, Covenant players took home eight weekly conference honors this season.

In a 12-8 win over Tennessee Temple, Carlton was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored. In the three-game sweep of Averett, the sophomore went a combined 5-for-10 with nine RBIs, three runs scored and two doubles. Carlton drove in four runs in the second game of the series and had two more RBIs in the championship-clinching victory on Saturday.
Kriston tossed seven shutout innings in game one of the Averett series to lead the Scots to a 14-2 win. The sophomore from Trinity, Fla., allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out seven as he picked up his seventh victory of the year.
