Baseball Vies for USA South Title This Weekend

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant baseball team will wrap-up its 2014 regular season schedule this weekend with a crucial three-game USA South series against Averett. Game one of the series is set for Friday at 4 p.m., and the two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

With victories in all three games, Covenant (23-13, 16-8 USA South) will clinch the USA South's regular season title and earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA tournament in May. This will be the first-ever meeting in baseball between Covenant and Averett (16-20, 8-15 USA South).

Saturday will feature Senior Day as four seniors -- Paul Phillips, David Lockwood, Carter Finch and Chris Rollins -- will be recognized in between the doubleheader.

Several giveaways will be featured throughout the weekend. Friday's game is sponsored by SunTrust Bank and Scots drawstring bags and plastic cups will be given away. On Saturday, the first 100 Covenant students in attendance will be given a 3/4 sleeve baseball shirt, courtesy of Niedlov's Breadworks.
