FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- For the second time this season, sophomore Garrett Kriston has been named USA South Pitcher of the Week, announced the league on Monday afternoon.
Kriston also earned the distinction on Feb. 24. The baseball team has now won six weekly USA South awards this year.
In his only outing of the week, Kriston pitched a complete-game four-hitter to help lead Covenant to a crucial 3-1 win over USA South foe Ferrum. The right-hander from Trinity, Fla., struck out nine and allowed one run on four hits, while retiring the final 13 batters he faced.
On the season, Kriston is 5-1 with an ERA of 2.12. He ranks third in the conference in ERA and is tied for the second most victories in the league.
