FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Sophomore Perry Rigby and freshman Z Arima earned weekly USA South baseball awards, announced the league on Monday afternoon. Rigby was named Player of the Week, while Arima was tabbed as the Rookie of the Week.
The honors are the fourth and fifth won by Covenant baseball players this season. Will Cleland was named Player of the Week last week, while pitchers Garrett Kriston (Pitcher of the Week) and Jordan Lester (Rookie Pitcher of the Week) have also been awarded.
Rigby, a sophomore from Decatur, Ala., went a combined 13-for-21 (.619) with eight RBIs, six runs scored, four doubles and one walk as the Scots posted a 3-1 record last week. In a three-game sweep of USA South foe Greensboro, Rigby was a combined 12-for-14 (.857) with eight RBIs, five runs scored, four doubles and one walk. Rigby was 4-for-4 in each of the first two games of the Greensboro series.
A freshman from Herriman, Utah, Arima is the first Scot to be recognized as Rookie of the Week. Arima batted .500 (6-for-12) with three RBIs, two runs scored and one walk. In a 16-15 extra-inning loss to Berry, Arima was 4-for-6 with one run scored and one run batted in. In a three-game sweep of USA South foe Greensboro, Arima played two of the contests and was a combined 2-for-6 (.333) with two RBI, one run scored and one walk.

Covenant won Monday's game with Johnson 12-2 to move to 13-6 on the season. Tuesday's game vs. Rhodes has been cancelled. The Scots open a three-game series with LaGrange on the road beginning on Friday at 7 p.m.
