FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Following an impressive weekend, Covenant second baseman Will Cleland has been named USA South Player of the Week, announced the league on Monday afternoon.
Cleland batted .474 (9-for-19) with three RBIs, two runs scored, two doubles and three triples last week to lead Covenant to a 3-1 record. The junior from Jacksonville, Fla., led the Scots to a three-game sweep of USA South foe Piedmont by going 8-for-14 over the weekend. Cleland was 4-for-5 in the second game of the series, an 11-8 Covenant win, with a school and USA South record three triples.
For the season, Cleland is third in the conference with a .417 average to go along with 10 RBIs, 12 runs and 12 stolen bases.
