LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- After three straight seasons of coming so close, the Covenant baseball team has finally reached the NCCAA World Series. The Scots have been selected as an at-large team to participate in the World Series that begins Wednesday, May 15 in Mason, Ohio at Prasco Park.

This will mark the first time in school history that the baseball team will compete at the World Series.

Local news in Chattanooga also took notice of the Scots' success. NBC affiliate WRCB came up to Lookout Mountain on Monday afternoon to interview players and head coach Doug Simons about their season and upcoming trip to Ohio. Link to story with video

In the 10-team tournament, Covenant received the No. 10 seed and will open up play on Wednesday against third-seeded Arizona Christian (29-25) at 4 p.m. On Thursday, the Scots will play a doubleheader with the first game coming against fellow Mid-East region member and second-seeded Campbellsville (35-19) at 2 p.m. followed by a tilt with seventh-seeded Emmanuel (32-23) at 5 p.m. Covenant concludes pool play on Friday at 1 p.m. against Olivet Nazarene (32-19).

The top two teams from pool A and pool B advance to a single elimination round that is scheduled for Friday. The championship game is set for Saturday at 1 p.m.

There will be two fields in use for the tournament, Prasco Park (main field) and the adjacent Legacy Field.

Covenant (28-15) placed third in the tough Mid-East Region this past week. The Scots had been ranked in the NCCAA Top 10 for most of the season.

Live Video (with commentary) will be provided by Tourbeau Sports for $5 pay-per-view subscriptions. All-access passes will also be available. DVD downloads of games will also be made available through Tourbeau Sports.
