BY THE NUMBERS:
11: Number of cross country runners that set personal records in Saturday's Berry Invitational. Six runners on the men's side (Micah Sneller, Reed Vaughn, Phil Moore, Nathan Bierema, Josh Humpherys, Zach Atchison) joined five women's runners (Ruthie Cargill, Lilly Smith, Melanie White, Stephanie Lutz, Juliette Henry) that set personal bests.
.722: Chelsea VanDyk's hitting percentage in last Tuesday's crucial USA South win over Maryville. VanDyk tallied 13 kills on just 18 attempts and her percentage was the second-highest in the program's history since the rally scoring era began in 2001. Later in the week, VanDyk surpassed Erica Adams for second in the program's history in career kills with 1,259.
1995: The last time Covenant defeated Maryville at home before Tuesday's 3-0 victory. The Lady Scots upended the two-time defending USA South champions inside Barnes PE Center for the first time since a 3-0 victory on Oct. 28, 1995.
3: Number of points tallied by men's soccer senior Noah Wiersema in Wednesday's 2-2 draw at Huntingdon. Wiersema scored his fourth goal of the year in the second half and then assisted on Mike Arango's equalizer later in the half to draw the Scots even. It's the second time in Wiersema's career he has tallied a goal and an assist in a single match.
6: With its 3-0 win at Huntingdon last Wednesday, the women's soccer team picked up its sixth shutout of the year. That number equals last year's total. It's also the second time in four seasons that Covenant has recorded six shutouts in its first 11 matches (2012).
