FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Covenant softball and baseball teams were voted as recipients of USA South Sportsmanship Awards for their respective sports, announced the conference on Thursday morning.

It is the third straight year that both softball and baseball teams have been recognized with Sportsmanship Awards.

By virtue of winning two more awards, Covenant has claimed the overall Sportsmanship Trophy. It is the third straight year that Covenant has had at least a share of the overall Sportsmanship award.

Garrett Kriston: The senior baseball pitcher set several program records on the year. Kriston set single-season pitching records in innings pitched (86.1), strikeouts (101) and tied for most complete-games (6) with his performance this year. For a career, Kriston now holds program records for innings pitched (272.2), victories (23) and strikeouts (255).

Morgan Lane: The softball senior capped her career by tying the program's record for career hits with 177. Lane also eclipsed 100 career RBIs earlier in the year, becoming just the third Lady Scot to achieve the feat.

Luke Harvey: The junior baseball outfielder set a single-season program record with 26 stolen bases this year. Harvey was caught just four times and smashed the previous record of 21.

Gracie Smith: The junior women's tennis player still has one more season left, but is setting the pace for the program's career singles victories. Smith broke the record during the year and sits at 37 career singles wins heading into 2017. Smith along with teammate and doubles partner Claire Luger are tied for most career doubles victories at 37 going into their senior seasons.
