Eaves Named USA South Runner of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant senior cross country runner Spookie Eaves has been named the USA South Runner of the Week, the league announced on Monday, Sept. 14.

The senior from Lakeland, Fla., led Covenant to a 13th place finish, out of 22 teams, at the Furman University Classic on Saturday with her personal record 6k time of 24:16.89. That time put Eaves in 36th place overall out of over 200 runners at the event and bested her previous personal record by 13 seconds.

1,133: With 28 kills in three matches last week, volleyball senior Chelsea VanDyk continued to climb the program's all-time kill leaders. VanDyk passed Jessie Jakes (2008-11) for third all-time during the rally scoring era. VanDyk is 121 kills shy of Erica Adams (2008-11) for second. Kate Hampson (2004-07) holds the record with 1,540 kills.

5: Five soccer student-athletes recorded their first collegiate goals during the week. On the women's side, Allie Vannoy, Rachel Buys, Rebekah Gravitt and Natalie Smith all scored for the first time in their careers. Tim Love notched his first collegiate goal on the men's side.

50: With two victories on Saturday, head volleyball coach Joanna Ehman surpassed 50 career coaching victories. Ehman, in her third year, is 51-27 and reached the milestone in just 77 matches, which is the fastest in volleyball program history and second fastest in all Covenant programs (former head men's soccer coach Brian Crossman holds that record with 50 wins in his first 71 contests).
