Cox Named First Team All-USA South; Arima All-Sportsmanship (Feb. 24, 2016)

MEN'S BASKETBALL IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT:
The Scots won the USA South Tournament with a 101-92 overtime victory over LaGrange on Saturday. Covenant will find out their destination and first round opponent in the NCAA Tournament on Monday with the NCAA Selection Show at 12:30 p.m. (WATCH HERE).
TJ Cox was named USA South Tournament MVP after scoring 21 points with eight assists in the title game and averaging 16.7 points in the tournament. Berto Dryden and Bailey Spragg were also All-Tournament honorees.
Covenant will be making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first national tournament appearance since 1987.
The USA South Tournament title is the first conference tournament crown on record in program history. It was also the first conference championship of any kind (regular season or postseason) since 1964.
BY THE NUMBERS:
29: Number of career singles victories for women's tennis junior Gracie Smith which breaks the program record. Smith broke the career record with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Katie Stephens of Maryville on Saturday. Smith now holds both the career and single-season singles victories record.
2: Number of walk-off hits for baseball sophomore Trenton Nobles. Nobles came through in the clutch for the second time this year with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th in Covenant's 5-4 win over LaGrange on Saturday. Nobles also had a walk-off against Emory & Henry on Feb. 12.
155: Men's golf junior Alan Craig posted a two-day score of 155 at the Georgetown (Ky.) College Invitational last week which set a personal best for a 36-hole tournament. Craig shot a 79 in round one before posting a 76 in Tuesday's final round.
6: Number of USA South Rookie of the Week honors for women's basketball freshman Joanna Smith this year. Smith earned her sixth and final award last week before being named the conference's Rookie of the Year.
