BY THE NUMBERS:
2: The seed for the men's basketball team heading into this week's USA South Tournament. The Scots' second place finish in the USA South is the highest conference finish since the program began playing in a modern-day conference format (1989-90 season). The 10-4 finish is also marks the highest conference winning percentage (.714) in program history.
45: Staying with men's basketball, this number reflects the number of victories the Scots' senior class has helped lead the program to during their time. The six seniors (Micah Turner, Robby Bell, TJ Cox, Matt den Dulk, Chris Boyd, Daniel Garrett) have led the Scots to two winning seasons in the last four years.
28: Number of career singles victories for women's tennis junior Gracie Smith, which ties the program record. Smith tied Stephanie Sizemore (2009-12) with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over N.C. Wesleyan's Leigh Hales on Friday.
28: Men's tennis sophomore Matthew Harvie knocked off N.C. Wesleyan's Sebastian Sikh, ranked No. 28 nationally in singles play, 7-6 (3), 6-0 on Friday. In the Division III era, it is the first time a Covenant men's player has defeated a nationally-ranked opponent.
9: Number of innings the softball team used to defeat Berea 4-3 on Friday. Madison Quirk had a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth and Joni Johnson went the distance in the circle allowing just two earned runs. It was the first nine-inning game at home for Covenant since April 11, 2012 against Berry.
