LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant Athletes of the Month sponsored by First Bank, the official bank of the Covenant Scots, for the month of October are women's soccer freshman Lucy Sandhoff and men's soccer senior Paul Lemay.

The Covenant Athletes of the Month is an initiative aiming to recognize the best female and male athletes and their performances during a month. It is the first time that Sandhoff has been honored and the second career selection for Lemay.

Sandhoff, a freshman goalkeeper from Lookout Mountain, Ga., produced a 6-1-1 record at the net for the Lady Scots during the month of October with a goals against average of 0.78 and a save percentage of .850. She had four complete shutouts during the month and added another combined shutout. Sandhoff had 10 saves in a 1-0 win at Bob Jones on Oct. 12 and registered four saves in a crucial, 1-0 win at Piedmont on Oct. 23.

She earned USA South Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7 after recording two shutouts and just one goal in 290 minutes of action the week before. Sandhoff also collected a USA South Rookie of the Week on Oct. 14. Her play helped Covenant move up the USA South West Division and claim the No. 2 seed in the USA South Tournament.

Lemay, a senior goalkeeper from Apopka, Fla., also had a standout month at the net for the Scots to help Covenant to a USA South West Division regular season title. The senior went 7-1 during October with a goals against average of 0.54, a save percentage of .871, and four shutouts. Lemay made a season-high tying seven saves in a critical, 1-0 win over Maryville on Oct. 12 and then made four saves in a division-clinching win at Brevard on Oct. 22.

Lemay earned USA South Goalkeeper of the Year and All-USA South first team for his play throughout the season. He currently leads the USA South in goals against average (0.58), save percentage (.859) and shutouts (8).
