FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South Athletic Conference announced that 25 student-athletes from its member institutions will attend the upcoming NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tenn., from Wednesday, Jan. 18 through Saturday, Jan. 21. Covenant volleyball junior Schuyler Moore and baseball sophomore Jonah Carignan will represent the institution at the convention.

The conference is able to sponsor this endeavor through the NCAA Division III Strategic Initiatives Grant Program. This is the first time the USA South has sponsored student-athletes' attendance at the NCAA Convention.

"In a conference as large as the USA South, both in number and geography, it is important for student-athletes to come together outside of the competitive arena and share a common experience," stated USA South Commissioner, Tom Hart.

The group will have the opportunity to hear and discuss several issues currently impacting Division III as well as topics which are relevant to all NCAA student-athletes and institutions. They will also attend multiple events which feature some of the most impactful student-athletes and administrators in the NCAA.

Specific programming for the USA South attendees includes a visit from Dr. Jason Selk who is considered to be one of the premier performance coaches in the United States. Although the USA South is responsible for Dr. Selk's involvement, other Division III Conferences with student-athletes attending the Convention are also invited and plan to join the session. Additionally, the USA South group will meet to discuss league issues, learn about current NCAA legislative items, attend various educational sessions and participate in a community-service activity with local Special Olympic athletes.

"From the NCAA Honors Dinner on Wednesday through the actual business session on Saturday morning, our USA South student-athletes will have an opportunity to learn about NCAA governance while growing as leaders as well," shared Commissioner Hart. "The session on Thursday morning with Dr. Selk will provide a framework for solution-centered thinking which should serve them well in their roles as students, teammates and citizens. We look forward to spending time with these student-athletes and making it an experience they can draw on for years to come"

During the trip, three of the attendees will assume control of the USA South's Instagram platform, offering a student-athlete's perspective of attending the NCAA Convention. Additionally, the conference plans to share live experiences through the USA South's Facebook page. Once the trip has concluded, the League will produce a video which will wrap-up the experience.
