Weekly Recap (Sept. 10-15)

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Covenant Athletics had a busy week, with almost all teams competing. Volleyball and women's soccer continued their recent win streaks, while women's cross country had another good outing and men's golf placed second in their tournament.

Before the week of events started, volleyball middle hitter Chelsea Van Dyk was named GSAC player of the week. The Lady Scots then played three times, and won two of the matches. The first match of the week resulted in a 3-0 win over Agnes Scott. Covenant defeated LaGrange College 3-0 before having their five-game win streak snapped with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Piedmont. Stephanie Kirkpatrick tallied 110 assists on the week, while Van Dyk had 24 kills in the Piedmont loss. Agnes Scott recap | LaGrange/Piedmont recap

Sewanee scored one, but could not come up with more. On Saturday, Huntingdon College struck first, but before halftime Beth Wilkening walked the ball into the goal past the keeper for the equalizer. Mo Cross finalized the win with a goal in the 84th minute off an assist from Ally Jennings. Sewanee recap | Huntingdon recap

Two days later, the Scots had a repeat as Truett-McConnell scored in the first overtime to take a 1-0 win. Berry recap | Truett-McConnell recap

The women bested host Carson-Newman for third. The men were led by Stephen Dillon and his 17th place finish. Carson-Newman Invitational recap
