Andrew Mindeman will begin his eighth year as the Director of Athletic Communications in 2019-20.
In his first seven years as the SID, Mindeman has elevated Covenant athletic programs through various means.
He served as Covenant's point person during the re-design of the official athletics website (athletics.covenant.edu) in the summer of 2015 with Presto Sports and again in 2018. The site regularly generates over 50,000 visits per month.
Mindeman has also grown Covenant's social media presence with the addition of Instagram in the summer of 2014. Currently, Covenant is 70th among all Division III schools in social media, according to d3socialmedia.com. Since the inception of Instagram, Covenant gained over 1,400 followers in just three years. Facebook and Twitter accounts have also seen increases during Mindeman's time as both accounts are above 1,600 followers.
Live video broadcasts of Covenant athletic events have also been enhanced. Mindeman was the driving force behind getting the video stream into HD and viewable on every device. He creates all on-screen graphics on the broadcasts and also serves as the play-by-play voice of soccer, baseball and softball contests.
While recording and promoting current events within Covenant athletics, Mindeman has also worked hard to preserve the past. Record book and archive pages on the website have been put together for all current athletic programs. Mindeman has researched and verified significant, or complete, records for all of the 14 athletic programs through the 2017-18 academic year.
In 2015, Mindeman served as the head SID for the USA South Volleyball Tournament, which Covenant hosted. He has also served as the lead SID for the USA South Baseball Tournament in 2016, 2017 and 2019, and the USA South Softball Tournament in 2018. Mindeman also held the lead SID role for the 2019 USA South Men's Basketball Tournament, hosted by Covenant. Additionally, he was selected as the chairperson for the USA South Sports Information Directors, and held the position from 2016-18.
Mindeman has been an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) since 2012. He is currently serving on two membership-wide committees, CoSIDA U and the Fred Stabley, Sr. Writing Contest, and is part of the membership's mentorship program.
Among his many duties, Mindeman also oversees the administration of all home athletic events at Covenant. He has also served as an adjunct professor in Covenant's sport administration program.
An alumnus of Covenant, Mindeman was brought on as Sports Information Coordinator in August of 2012. He graduated from Covenant in May of 2012 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies composed of business, psychology, and sociology. During his time as a student, he was an invaluable member to the sports information student staff.
Mindeman served as an official scorer for the Chattanooga Lookouts in 2012 and currently is a game scorer for Baseball Info Solutions. He was an official statistician at the 2010 NCCAA Men's Soccer National Championship and served in the same capacity for two NCCAA Mid-East Regional tournaments in softball and men's basketball.
He has also worked and volunteered for the Lookout Mountain Parks and Recreation department for several years, assisting in organizing and running the youth baseball and basketball programs. He has coached a 4th-5th grade boys recreation league basketball team the last four years, and his 2017 team claimed the league championship.
In 2018, Mindeman completed his master's degree in sports administration from Belhaven University.
He and his wife, Michelle, have been married for six years and have two children, Joel and Abigail. The family resides on Lookout Mountain and are members of Rock Creek Fellowship Church.
