NEWS:

Tennis: Women 4th, Men 7th in USA South Preseason Polls

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South Athletic Conference released the 2015 preseason coaches polls for men's and women's tennis on Wednesday afternoon. The Covenant women were selected to finish fourth, while the men were picked to finish seventh.

Both Covenant teams are under the direction of John Hirte who enters his third year at the helm of both programs. FULL STORY

Softball Picked 11th in USA South Preseason Poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South Athletic Conference released its softball preseason coaches poll on Wednesday afternoon. Piedmont was picked to win the conference, while Covenant was selected to place 11th in the 13-team league. FULL STORY

BY THE NUMBERS:

15.5: The scoring average for men's basketball junior TJ Cox over the last four games. Cox scored a career-high 21 points in a win at Piedmont on Wednesday and then added 10 points and six assists in a 67-56 victory over Huntingdon on Saturday.

2: Number of times the men's basketball team has recorded consecutive conference wins this season. Covenant had not achieved the feat since the 2005-06 season when it won two straight conference games four times during the regular season.

NOTES:

  • Men's and women's basketball teams host rival Maryville on Wednesday. Maryville women are nationally-ranked. Men tip at 5:30, women at 7:30.
  • Senior Day for women's basketball will take place on Saturday when the Scots host Agnes Scott at 2 p.m. ... Kiersten Nielsen and Morgan Woodward will be honored before the game.
  • Baseball opens its season this weekend with a 3-game series against Emory & Henry at home. First pitch on Friday is at 2 p.m., first pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is noon.
  • Women's tennis also begins this weekend with a home match vs. Snead State at 1 p.m.
