BY THE NUMBERS:

22: Number of assists the men's basketball team registered, on 23 made field goals, in Friday's win over NC Wesleyan. It's the second time this year the Scots have dished out 22 assists.

64: The shooting percentage in the first half of the women's basketball game vs. NC Wesleyan on Friday. The Scots scored 41 points and took a 41-15 lead at the break after a 24-2 scoring run to end the period. Covenant went on to win 67-43.

7: The number of 3-pointers made by women's basketball junior Haley Soles in Saturday's game vs. William Peace. It was the most 3-pointers made in a game by a Covenant player since Mo Cross buried seven against Sewanee on Jan. 9, 2012 and its is tied for ninth all-time in program history.

NOTES:

  • Men's basketball sophomore Will Portlock had a stat-stuffing kind of week for the Scots. Portlock averaged 11,5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds to help lead the Scots to a 2-0 week.
  • Both basketball teams are back in action at home on Wednesday against LaGrange (men at 5:30, women at 7:30) and the women will host Mary Baldwin on Friday and Meredith on Saturday.
  • USA South preseason polls for spring sports begin this week. Baseball will be unveiled on Wednesday, while other spring sports are released next week.
