Covenant Athletic Weekly Recap: Week 9 (Oct 24-29)
Posted October 31, 2011LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- As the fall sport season is beginning to come to a close, Covenant athletic teams are still fighting hard. The NCCAA National Championship of golf took place this week. Also, cross country competed in the Great South conference meet that was held in Chattanooga at the Chickamauga Dam. The men’s and women’s soccer teams played on Tuesday and Saturday while women’s volleyball continues their great season by winning twice more on Saturday.
Freshman Trey Patterson Enters Final Round of NCCAA National Championship in 26th Place
Posted October 25, 2011PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- Freshman Trey Patterson has made the cut and qualified for the third and final round of the NCCAA National Championship at the Hombre Golf Club here in Panama City Beach. Patterson carded an opening round 79 before improving by four strokes on day two for a 75. His grand total of 154 has him tied for 26th among the 93 competitors and only six strokes from All-American status.
Round three begins Wednesday at 7:45 a.m.
Covenant Athletic Weekly Recap: Week 6 (Oct 3-8)
Posted October 10, 2011LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Week six on the Covenant athletics scene began with golf, followed by men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball on Wednesday, then ended at Homecoming on Saturday night after big wins by both teams. Men’s golf played another tournament on Friday and Saturday. Though the week on the whole was not too hectic, Homecoming had a huge crowd and their victory was followed by fireworks.
Golf Team Finishes 18th at Chik-Fil-A Invitational

ROME, Ga. – The Covenant Scots completed round two of the 2011 Chik-Fil-A Invitational with a team total of 323. Their final score of 642 (319-323) put them in 18th place in the field of 19 teams.
Covenant was led again by Alex Mosteller who shot a 75-78 at the Coosa Country Club in Rome, Georgia. The sophomore finished tied for 44th in the field of 115 individuals. Freshman Trey Patterson carded a pair of 80s for the event to finish second among Scots.
Scots in 18th Place Through Opening Round of Chik-Fil-A Invitational
Posted October 3, 2011ROME, Ga. -- Alex Mosteller carded a 75 (36-39) to lead the Covenant golf team in the first round of the Chik-Fil-A Invitational hosted by Berry College, but the Scots currently hold 18th place as a team in the field of 19 schools. Mosteller’s 75 is part of a team total of 319 which has the Scots well within striking distance of numerous other schools, including the 13th placed Piedmont College Lions (313) and the 14th placed Berry College Vikings (314).
Patterson Shoots 2-Under; Covenant Earns Runner-Up Trophy
Posted September 13, 2011CLARKESVILLE, Ga. -- Freshman Trey Patterson led the charge for the Scots in round two of the 2011 Piedmont College Fall Invitational, shooting a tournament low 70 to help the Scots take second place in the field of 9 teams at the Orchard Golf and Country Club. With the runner-up crown, the Covenant men take their lowest finish as a team since 2008.
Lewis, Mosteller Lead Scots into Second Place Through Opening Round of Piedmont Invitational
Posted September 12, 2011CLARKESVILLE, Ga. -- Cameron Lewis and Alex Mosteller have led the Scots into a second place standing through the first round of the 2011 Piedmont College Fall Invitational. A pair of 74s through the first 18 holes at the Orchard Golf and Country Club puts the two sophomores one stroke off the lead in the field of 46. The Scots have a combined 308 point total, second only to Coastal Georgia (300).
Covenant College Athletic Academic Honor Roll Released
Posted July 11, 2011LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant College athletic department would like to congratulate the following athletes for their hard work in the classroom during the 2011 spring semester. These 86 athletes showed their dedication to Covenant’s pursuit of academic excellence by maintaining a grade point average of 3.50 or higher during that term, all while competing as collegiate athletes. Furthermore, the men’s cross country team (3.69) and women’s JV soccer team (3.50) receive the honor of top male and top female teams.
