NEW ORLEANS -- Both the Covenant men's and women's cross country programs were honored recently by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) for their academic exploits.
The Covenant men's team had a combined GPA of 3.29, while the women boasted a GPA of 3.69. The women's team GPA was tied with Hamline University for 11th-best among the 216 women's Division III programs that qualified, the highest finish for the program over the last four years.
For a fourth straight year, both programs were honored as All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA. Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.10 or greater and competed in at least five different meets with at least five runners representing their school at each in order to qualify.
A total of 389 men's and women's Division III programs were honored, with 216 women's teams and 173 on the men's side.
