Stephanie Wharton will enter her eighth year overall assisting with the volleyball program in 2017. Wharton previously served as an assistant under former head coach Heather Taylor for five seasons and spent 2015 as head coach Joanna Ehman's top assistant.
Wharton comes with a wealth of volleyball experience both as a player and as a coach.
She was a four-year standout at Covenant from 2002-05 where she set the program record for digs in a career with 1,919 and was an NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete in 2005. During her career, she was a team captain for three years and played two years as an outside hitter and two as the libero. Wharton was a Maclellan Scholar and graduated in 2006 with a degree in English and a minor in Biblical Studies.
As a senior, she coached club volleyball with former Covenant head coach Heather Taylor before serving as an assistant coach at Bryan for a year. Wharton then returned to Covenant to assist Taylor with the program through the 2012 season.
She and her husband, Ben, have three sons, Zeke, Josiah and Luke, and the family lives on Lookout Mountain, Ga.
