LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- A full slate of 30 regular season matches awaits the 2017 edition of the Covenant volleyball program as the schedule has been finalized. The Lady Scots will play in three non-conference tournaments, face national and regional powers, and play nine matches inside Barnes PE Center.

The season gets started at Birmingham Southern for a weekend classic against Sewanee (Sept. 1), Washington & Lee (Sept. 2) and the host Panthers (Sept. 2). It will be the second time in the last four years that the Lady Scots open at BSC's event as Covenant went 4-0 in the classic back in 2014. Covenant and Washington & Lee have met early in the season in each of the last two years, with the Generals pulling out five-set wins in each.

The home opener is set for Wednesday, Sept. 6 against Oglethorpe at 7 p.m. at Barnes PE Center. The following weekend, Covenant is back on the road with a trip to Atlanta and the Emory Classic from Sept. 8-9. In the event, the Lady Scots face DeSales (Sept. 8), Howard Payne (Sept. 9) and Chapman (Sept. 9). All three opponents will be the first all-time meetings between the programs.

The final non-conference tournament will have a USA South ring to it as Covenant travels to Maryville on Sept. 15-16 to square off with Averett (Sept. 15), Greensboro (Sept. 16) and William Peace (Sept. 16). All three matches will not count towards conference standings.

USA South play officially begins on Sept. 20 with a home date against Maryville. Covenant will host conference tri-matches on Sept. 30 and Oct. 14, while also facing league newcomer Berea at home on Oct. 4. Covenant will also face another USA South new member in Brevard (Oct. 7 and Oct. 28), but both matches will not count towards league standings due to Brevard's transition to NCAA Division III from Division II.

At the end of September, Covenant travels back to Atlanta to face national power Emory on Sept. 28. The final two non-conference matches will be played at home as the Lady Scots host regional power Berry on Oct. 18 followed by Sewanee on Oct. 26.

The USA South Tournament will begin on Oct. 31 with first round and quarterfinal round contests at the top two divisional seeds. The semifinals and championship will be held Nov. 3-4 at the top remaining seed in the tournament.
