FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- For a second time this year, Covenant women's tennis freshman Esther Eddy has been named the USA South Rookie of the Week, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.
Eddy also collected honors on March 27.
A freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., Eddy helped Covenant clinch a USA South West Division title with a 3-0 singles record and a 2-1 mark in doubles play on the week. All of Eddy's singles wins came at the No. 4 spot as she knocked off opponents from Maryville, Huntingdon and LaGrange. In doubles, Eddy teamed with Aly Hall for wins against Maryville and Huntingdon.
Eddy's play has been strong all season for Covenant. The freshman is 13-5 in singles play and she has won nine of her last 10 matches overall. Eddy has played at No. 1 doubles with Hall for most of the season and holds a 10-7 overall record in doubles.
Covenant (12-7) enters the USA South Tournament as the West No. 1 seed. The Lady Scots face East No. 4 seed Averett on Thursday at 2 p.m. in LaGrange, Ga., in a first round contest.
