Kiaira Cooper completed her third year as the full-time assistant women's basketball coach in 2016-17.

Cooper graduated from Covenant in the spring of 2014 and was a member of the Scots program for five years, taking a medical redshirt in the 2011-12 season. As a senior in 2013-14, Cooper played in 18 games and averaged 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

"I'm really excited and thankful to be back at Covenant," said Cooper at the time of her hiring. "This program has been a big part of my life for the last five years, coming back is blessing."

"As a coach, I love seeing former players enter into the coaching profession," commented head coach Sarah Harris. "It's particularly exciting to have one of those players return to the sideline at her alma mater and continue to invest in this program in a new role."

Cooper also had success in the classroom as a student. With a degree in Art, she earned USA South All-Academic honors for the 2013-14 year and was named to the Dean's List at Covenant four times.

"She had a successful career as both a basketball player and a student at Covenant," continued Harris. "She possesses a love for Covenant College, a commitment to this basketball program, and a desire to see both Covenant College and Covenant basketball grow in excellence. As a result, she is able to speak effectively to both current and future Scots about the incredible value of a Covenant education that takes place on and off the basketball court."

Added Cooper, "I hope I can help the present and future Scots with their pursuit of excellence beyond the basketball court, whether that is pursuing excellence in faith, academics, relationships or any other aspect of their lives."

In 2016, Cooper completed her Master of Business Administration degree from Belhaven University.

Originally from Powder Springs, Ga., Cooper attended North Cobb Christian High School. She now resides in Chattanooga, Tenn..
