LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Covenant men's tennis junior Matthew Harvie finished the year ranked No. 22 in the Atlantic South region by the ITA as the organization unveiled its final polls on Friday, June 2.
Harvie, the only individual to be regionally ranked in the program's NCAA era history, was ranked in each of the four region polls during the spring. The No. 22 ranking marked the second straight poll that Harvie sat at that spot and the highest mark of the season for the junior. He was one of four players from the USA South ranked in the final region poll.
A junior from Grayson, Ga., Harvie enjoyed another outstanding season on the court as he helped lead the Scots to a USA South West Division regular season title. Harvie earned first team All-USA South, a third straight selection, and All-West Division honors after going 13-4 in singles play and 14-7 in doubles. He went 6-0 in singles play against the USA South and combined with Chris Cox to go 14-7, including 7-0 in the USA South, at No. 1 doubles. Harvie was named USA South Player of the Week on Feb. 27 after going 2-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles the week prior.
Harvie has accumulated a career singles record of 35-13 and is 35-18 in doubles as he continues his climb up the program's all-time wins leaderboard.
Covenant (12-10, 7-1 USA South) earned the program's first conference title by claiming the USA South West Division crown and advanced to the USA South Tournament semifinals, while setting a program record for wins.
