Scots Golf in Second after Round One of Eagle Invitational

COHUTTA, Ga. -- Marshall Kent posted a 74 to lead the Covenant men's golf team to a second place spot after round one of the Eagle Invitational at Nob North Golf Course in Cohutta, Ga., on a chilly Monday.

Covenant shot a 310 to sit in second after the opening round. Bob Jones leads the field after scoring a 300 as a team, while tournament host Alice Lloyd is third and Johnson University (Tenn.) is fourth. The 310 from Covenant is a season-low round total.

Kent fired a 74, a season-best for the junior, in the first round and is just one stroke off the lead going into Tuesday's final round. Tyler Smith of Bob Jones is the clubhouse leader after shooting a 1-over, 73 on Monday. 

Matthew Harvie shot a career-low 78 and is eighth, while Nathan Hawkins and Josh Wall both carded a 79 to sit in a tie for ninth. Will Mayfield rounded out the Covenant golfers with his 83 and is in a tie for 13th overall in the event.

UP NEXT

The final round of the Eagle Invitational will tee off on Tuesday morning.
