ALCOA, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's golf team completed its regular season on Tuesday falling in a dual match with Maryville at Green Meadow Country Club in Alcoa. Covenant shot a 315 as a team, while Maryville posted a 301.
The event was cut down to just one, 18-hole round after heavy rains came through the area on Monday that canceled the first round. The event was a last chance tournament for both teams to try and improve their rankings in GolfStat heading towards the USA South Tournament. The top nine-ranked league teams qualify for the tournament which begins on April 13 in LaGrange, Ga.
Nathan Hawkins continued his strong play of late as he posted a career-best 74 in the round to finish third overall. Marshall Kent and Josh Wall tied for fifth in the event after they each carded 79s in the round. Alan Craig finished with an 83, while Will Mayfield completed the round with an 89.
Maryville's Garrett Compliment and Wil Manuel finished tied for first with their even-par, 72s.
Covenant will await to see if it qualifies for the USA South Tournament which will run from April 13-15 in LaGrange, Ga.
