LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Covenant Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Operations Tim Sceggel has been named the recipient of the Emerging Athletic Administrator Award by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA). He was recently honored with the award at the NCAA Convention/NADIIIAA Reception in San Diego, Calif.
The award, in its sixth year of existence, is presented to one national honoree, recognizing an NCAA Division III athletics administrator with seven or fewer years cumulative experience in the field who has demonstrated a pattern of excellence and achievement in athletic administration. The recipient is presented with a $1,000 professional development grant.
"I am very blessed and honored to receive this award," said Sceggel. "It is a credit to the great leadership of Kyle Taylor in addition to God seeing it fit to put me in the right place at the right time as I have been given the opportunity to be part of tremendous growth in the athletic department in the last several years."
Sceggel joined the Covenant athletic department in 2007. In his current role, he is responsible for all NCAA and institutional compliance for Covenant athletics along with sport supervision for women's soccer, men's basketball, and men's and women's golf along with other items related to the internal operations of the department. Additionally, he serves as the Title IX Coordinator for the campus and as an adjunct instructor, teaching several courses in the Sport Management minor.
"I'm thrilled for Tim to receive the Emerging Athletic Administrator of the Year Award from NADIIIAA," said Director of Athletics Kyle Taylor. "Tim is an incredibly gifted Associate Athletic Director, works incredibly hard, and has a servant's heart. Tim's experience and background is so diverse and that is most likely why he won this prestigious award. He has been published in journals, taught classes at Covenant, run NCAA postseason events, and done just about everything you can think of in our athletic department at Covenant. Tim never complains and is a diligent worker at whatever task is assigned."
Sceggel holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Covenant and a master's degree in Sport Management from the University of Louisville. Sceggel is a member of professional organizations, including the National Association for Athletics Compliance, National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators, and the North American Society for Sports Management.
