James comes to Covenant this year as a freshman golfer for the Scots. During his fall semester at Covenant, James was voted to the All-Tournament team at the Piedmont Invitational. Prior to Covenant, James was a golfer at Jupiter High School where he was named to the first team All-Conference and first team All-Area in his senior year.

His parents are Nick Van Nice and Lisa Warch. He has six sisters. When he is not golfing for the Scots, James enjoys playing basketball. One of his favorite Bible passages is James 1:22-25 which says, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do."

James is majoring in Business and minoring in Sports Management. After graduating from Covenant, he would like to continue to play golf and become a financial adviser.
