FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant men's basketball senior Patjo Twagirayezu was named USA South Player of the Week and freshman Will Crumly collected USA South Rookie of the Week honors, as the conference announced its weekly award winners for the period ending Dec. 3.

It is the first time since Covenant joined the USA South that the Scots have swept the men's basketball weekly awards. The honor is the second in Twagirayezu's career, while it is the first for Crumly.

The duo was key in Covenant's 2-0 week as the Scots took down conference foes LaGrange and Berea.

Twagirayezu, a senior from Kigali, Rwanda, averaged 26.0 points per game, while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 100 percent from 3-point land, with 7.5 rebounds. The senior scored 22 points, on 6-of-13 shooting with two 3-pointers, to go with nine rebounds in an 89-85 win over LaGrange. He then scored 30 points, on 8-of-13 shooting with five 3-pointers, with six rebounds and two assists and two steals in a 93-64 win over Berea.

Twagirayezu is the first Covenant player to register multiple 30-point games in a season since Jacob Skogen in 2006-07. The senior had a career-high 32 points in a win over Birmingham Southern on Nov. 21.

Crumly, a freshman from Marietta, Ga., averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game last week versus USA South competition. In the win over LaGrange, Crumly totaled six points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal. Then in the rout of Berea, he scored a career-high 20 points, while shooting 8-of-9 from the field, to go along with eight rebounds, two blocks and one steal.

Covenant (3-1, 2-0 USA South) will take its three-game winning streak on the road for two games this week. The Scots face Sewanee on Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST.
