Eger Named NCCAA All-American Honorable Mention

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The accolades keep rolling in for the Covenant Scots soccer team. This week, the NCCAA announced its 2011 Men’s Soccer All-American team and Scots goalkeeper John Eger was named honorable mention.
Eger, a senior from Trinity, North Carolina, recorded five shutouts for the Scots this season while allowing 1.04 goals per match. Eger had multiple outstanding performances for Covenant on the year, but two matches stand out. The senior had a season-high 13 saves in a win over Asbury

Posted November 22, 2011LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- This week at Covenant marked the official start to the winter season of basketball, and to kick it off, hundreds of students came out for the “Royal Blue-Out” at the men’s and women’s first game. Meanwhile, men’s and women’s soccer, as well as volleyball, all competed in their NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament but were unable to advance into the national tournament stage.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The NCCAA announced its Mid-East Region men’s soccer award winners on Tuesday, and Scots goalkeeper John Eger was named Co-Region Player of the Year while Tyler Morrison and Chris Pifer were placed on the All-Region team.
Kara Lee and Tyler Morrison Win NCCAA Soccer Players of the Week
Posted November 22, 2011GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The National Christian College Athletic Association has named Covenant’s Kara Lee and Tyler Morrison as the soccer players of the week for the week ending Nov. 19. Despite falling in the Mid-East region finals, Lee and Morrison led their team there, where they fell one win shy of a berth to the national tournament.
Oaks Take Mid-East Title Over Scots

OAKLAND CITY, Ind -- The Covenant Scots were one win away from going back to the NCCAA Men’s Soccer National Tournament for a second year in a row, but Oakland City University had other ideas. Carlos Castano’s golden goal in the 99th minute gave the Oaks a 1-0 win over the Scots and the Mid-East title.
Morrison Propels Scots to Region Championship Game

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. -- Tyler Morrison scored a hat trick in Friday’s 4-2 semifinal victory over Asbury University to help the Scots soccer team advance to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Championship game. The Scots (8-9-2) will play Oakland City University on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. for the Mid-East crown and an automatic bid to the national tournament.
Covenant’s Fall Playoff Picture
Posted November 15, 2011LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- While Covenant’s golf and cross country programs have concluded their fall seasons, the Scots volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer teams have been gearing up for the 2011 postseason. Action will commence Thursday, Nov. 17 as the Lady Scots volleyball team will begin pool play at Oakland City University. Friday will feature more from the volleyball team along with semifinal matchups for each of Covenant’s soccer teams. Scots JV Team to Host League Championship!
Posted November 14, 2011LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant Scots JV men’s soccer team will play host to the Maryville College JV team for the 2011 League Championship Monday evening. Covenant finished 4-5-5 at the end of the regular season before advancing past Truett-McConnell College via penalty kicks in the semifinal round early last week. Maryville defeated Bryan College 1-0 in its semifinal matchup and looks to find redemption from the 2-1 loss it suffered at the hands of the Covenant Scots the last time the two teams met.
