Mosteller and Patterson Earn Georgia Cup Honorable Mention


LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Covenant golfers Alex Mosteller and Trey Patterson were recognized for their efforts this season by being named Georgia Cup honorable mention. The Georgia Cup consists of six NCAA Division III schools, including Covenant, in the state of Georgia. Any tournament that had at least two Georgia Cup schools participating was accounted for in the Cup's team and individual standings.

 

Scots Golf Finishes 4th, Earn Postseason Awards


MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Covenant golf team shot a 321 for a second straight day at the 2012 GSAC Men's Championship hosted by Wynlakes Golf & Country Club. With a total score of 642, Covenant finished the tournament in fourth place.

 

LaGrange took the event with a final round 291 and an overall score of 592. Huntingdon was second with 614, while Maryville was third at 631. Piedmont rounded out the five team field with a 658.

 

Golf Sits in 4th after Opening Round of GSAC Tournament


Cameron LewisMONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Led by Cameron Lewis' 77, the Covenant Scots golf team sits in fourth place after the first round of the Great South Athletic Conference tournament at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Ala.

 

As a team, Covenant scored a 321 for the day. LaGrange College leads the event with a first round score of 301, while Huntingdon (313) and Maryville (315) are second and third, respectively. Piedmont finished round one in fifth place with a score of 341.

Mosteller Fires a 72, Covenant Finishes 3rd at Reeder Cup


Alex MostellerLOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Sophomore Alex Mosteller fired a second round low 72, 12 strokes better than his day one score, to lead the Covenant golf team to a third place finish at the 2012 Reeder Cup on Tuesday afternoon at the Lookout Mountain Golf Club.

 

LaGrange College won the event with a final round 306 to finish with a two-day score of 616. University of Mobile finished second with a total score of 631, while Covenant was just two shots behind Mobile at 633.

Men's Golf in 4th after Reeder Cup Opening Round


LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The 2012 Reeder Cup got underway on a sunny and warm Monday morning at the Lookout Mountain Golf Club. Covenant finished round one in fourth place, 11 shots off the lead, as Trey Patterson shot a team-best 76.

 

Scots Golf in 4th after Opening Round of CBU Invitational


BARTLETT, Tenn. -- Cameron Lewis shot an opening round of 74 to lead the Covenant men's golf team to 4th place in the first round of the Christian Brothers University Invitational.

As a team, Covenant had an openeing round score of 307, which is just eight shots off the leader Hannibal-LaGrange University (Mo.). Besides Lewis' 74, Trey Patterson put up a first round score of 77 while Alex Mosteller and Scott McKnight each shot a 78. Nick Blauw rounded out the Covenant golfers with an 81.

Covenant will tee off on Tuesday morning beginning at 9 a.m.

Golf Finishes 18th in Rome News-Tribune Invitational


Cameron LewisROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team finished in 18th place at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. Trey Patterson and Cameron Lewis each had a final round score of 80.

Patterson tied for 48th place individually with his two-day total of 157. Lewis finished not far behind Patterson with a total score of 163 in the two days. Alex Mosteller posted a final round score of 82, while Nick Blauw (89) and Scott McKnight (93) finished fourth and fifth for the Scots, respectively.

Men's Golf 17th after 1st Round of Rome News-Tribune Invitational


ROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team began the spring semester of competition on Monday in the Rome News-Tribune Invitational hosted by Berry College. Trey Patterson shot a 77 for round one, which places him in a tie for 38th individually, but as a team Covenant sits in 17th place.

Covenant Athletic Weekly Recap: Week 9 (Oct 24-29)


LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- As the fall sport season is beginning to come to a close, Covenant athletic teams are still fighting hard.  The NCCAA National Championship of golf took place this week.  Also, cross country competed in the Great South conference meet that was held in Chattanooga at the Chickamauga Dam.  The men’s and women’s soccer teams played on Tuesday and Saturday while women’s volleyball continues their great season by winning twice more on Saturday.

Patterson Claims 30th Place at NCCAA National Championship


Trey PattersonPANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- Scots golfer Trey Patterson closed out the final round of the NCCAA National Championship event Wednesday afternoon with a third round 77.  The freshman completes the 7th annual tournament with a total score of 231, keeping pace with his scoring average of the first two rounds.  Patterson carded a 79 and a 75 over the first two days of competition but came up eight strokes shy of the All-American team.  His efforts placed him tied for 30th place in the field

Freshman Trey Patterson Enters Final Round of NCCAA National Championship in 26th Place


PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- Freshman Trey Patterson has made the cut and qualified for the third and final round of the NCCAA National Championship at the Hombre Golf Club here in Panama City Beach.  Patterson carded an opening round 79 before improving by four strokes on day two for a 75.  His grand total of 154 has him tied for 26th among the 93 competitors and only six strokes from All-American status.


Round three begins Wednesday at 7:45 a.m.

Covenant Athletic Weekly Recap: Week 7 & 8 (Oct 10-22)


LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Covenant’s week seven and eight consisted of the college’s first break from class, but rather than taking a break, the Scots and Lady Scots were hard at work on the road.  Women’s volleyball went all the way to Pensacola Christian College in Florida to beat the host Lady Eagles 3-0. Women’s soccer played twice.  Men’s golf had their third tournament of the season on Monday and Tuesday.  Men’s soccer continued its win streak against Emory & Henry College on Wednesday night.
