Dallas Native to Join Scots
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Alexander Weir, a 6'1 Point Guard from Dallas, TX, has committed to Covenant College for the 2010-2011 season.
Alexander, who graduated from the Cambridge School in Dallas, averaged 20 points per game during his senior season. A five sport athlete at Cambridge, Alexander participated in Basketball, Cross-Country, Track, Soccer, and Crew, enjoying great success as a prep athlete.
Weir's accomplishments include state championships in Track and Cross-Country, All-District nods in Basketball as a Jr. and Sr., 4 years as an All-State selection in Cross-Country, and a 2nd team All-District selection in Soccer as a Sr.
Outside of athletics, Alexander managed to find time to serve as the President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), was one of the School Newspaper's Chief Editors, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Alexander is excited about his opportunities to grow as a student, athlete, and Christian in a caring community like Covenant.
When asked about Alexander, Coach Kyle Taylor remarked, "Alexander is going to leave his mark on this campus. I'm excited to see what happens when he is able to focus more of his time on just one sport. He excelled in so many areas as a high school student-athlete both on and off the playing field, and I know that he'll do the same at Covenant. Alexander is a very good athlete and will have a chance to compete right away."
