Westminster Christian Grad to Join Scots
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Ben Shutt, a 6'3 left-handed guard from Watkinsville, GA, will join the Scots Men's Basketball team for the 2010-2011 season. A three-sport star at Westminster Christian, Ben excelled in football, baseball, and basketball, and was a member of the all-region team in all three sports.
Ben's basketball accomplishments include being named the best offensive player and MVP of his high school team, as well as being named to the all-region and all-county teams. Ben also received the distinction of being named All Northeast Georgia Honorable Mention after his senior season.
The son of Barney and Kim Shutt, Ben excelled in the classroom as well during his time at WCA. An honors graduate, Ben maintained a position on the honor roll for all four years and received numerous academic honors including Headmaster's awards in multiple subjects and Faculty awards in English and Spanish. After his junior year Ben was recognized with the D.A.R. Citizenship Award and Rachel E. Tingle Memorial Scholarship.
"Covenant is very pleased to be adding a young man with the athletic and academic accomplishments of Ben Shutt," noted Coach Taylor. "He is a great man of God who loves Jesus, and will represent us well up on the mountain. It doesn't hurt that he's got a dangerous lefty jumper."
