Kole Richards to Play for Scots

Kole RichardsLOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- A case of mistaken identity led Kole Richards to Covenant College.  He liked it so much, he decided to come back.

After mistaking a phone conversation with another assistant coach to be one with a member of the Covenant College staff, Kole came to Covenant for a visit that was a bit unexpected.  The day turned out to be fruitful for both Covenant and Mr. Richards, as a few months later Kole has decided to attend Covenant and will play basketball for the Scots.

Kole hails from Crossville, AL, and had a decorated career playing basketball for Crossville High School.  During his senior season, Kole averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds on his way to being named team MVP, All-DeKalb County, All-Area, and Times Journal Player of the Week.  He led the team in steals and blocks, and shot 37% from 3 point land, which will come in handy next year for the Scots. He was also named to the all-tournament teams at Sand Mountain, DeKalb, and the All-Area tournament.

The son of Roger and Frances Richards, Kole plans to major in History at Covenant College, and hopes to one day serve as a missionary in foreign countries teaching history.

"Kole can really score the basketball, and that will be a tremendous asset for us. Kole's recruiting story is an interesting one", noted Coach Taylor, "but it only serves as proof that God has a plan for each of us, and he can indeed work in mysterious ways.  We're excited that Kole was led to Covenant, even if it wasn't in a traditional manner."
