Sears Leads 8 Scots in GABCA Honors


Callum SearsLOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The accolades keep rolling in for the Covenant men's basketball team. The Georgia Basketball Coaches Association (GABCA) recently announced its All-State awards and the Scots' Callum Sears earned second team among NCAA Division III members. Seven other Scots were recognized on the All-Academic team.

Sears, a junior from Franklin, Tenn., adds this award to his GSAC All-Conference selection and NCCAA second team All-Region.

Sears and McGriff Named NCCAA All-Region


Callum SearsLOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The NCCAA announced its All-Region men's basketball awards this week and two Covenant players were recognized for their efforts this season. Callum Sears garnered second team All-Region, while Colton McGriff was an honorable mention.

Sears, a junior from Franklin, Tenn., led Covenant in scoring with 13.7 points per game and pulled down an average of 3.2 rebounds per game. The junior also ranked fifth overall in the Great South Athletic Conference in scoring average.

Scots Fall in NCCAA Regional to Bluefield, 80-74


Callum SearsMADISONVILLE, Tenn. -- Despite 19 points apiece from Callum Sears and Colton McGriff, the Covenant Scots were ousted from the NCCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament by Bluefield College 80-74 on Thursday night in Madisonville.

Bluefield advances to play the region’s second seeded Tennessee Temple on Friday night. Covenant ends the season with an 8-18 overall record.

NCCAA Basketball Region Tournaments Set


LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Postseason basketball is upon us as both Covenant teams will be competing in their respective NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournaments later this week. The men’s tournament is being hosted by Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tenn., Thursday-Saturday, while the women’s tournament is also being held the same days at Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga.

Covenant Athletic Weekly Recap: Week 23 (Feb. 20-25)


LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- A busy schedule of competitions for Covenant this week as the spring and winter sports are playing at the same time for now. The men’s and women’s basketball teams finished their regular season games, while men’s and women’s tennis, and softball had their first events of the season.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Great South Athletic Conference announced its men’s and women’s basketball All-Conference awards on Thursday afternoon. Junior Callum Sears was recognized as an All-Conference player as well as an All-Academic performer on the men’s side, while Morgan Woodward took All-Freshman and Sportsmanship honors on the women’s side.

Covenant Athletic Weekly Recap: Week 22 (Feb. 13-18)


LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The weeks seem to be flying by as men’s baseball has started out strong and women’s softball will be starting shortly. The women’s basketball team played two very good GSAC teams and their record now moves to 5-18 overall and 4-11 in the GSAC. The men’s basketball team has only one more regular game this season and is 7-17 overall and 2-6.

Scots Close Out Regular Season With Win


Jon DeVriesROME, Ga. -- The Covenant Scots ended the regular season on Tuesday night with a 63-58 win over Berry College at the Cage Center. The win for Covenant brings its record to 8-17 overall, while Berry falls to 3-22 for the season.

The two teams met earlier this season on Lookout Mountain. Covenant came out on top in that contest as well 77-74.
