Covenant Eliminated from Mid-East Region Tournament
Posted May 10, 2012MAYFIELD, Ky. -- Mid-Continent's Richard Arias hit a tiebreaking, two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to lift the Cougars to a 3-2 win over Covenant on Thursday afternoon at the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament. The loss eliminates the Scots from the tournament. Mid-Continent moves on to face Bluefield College needing to beat the Rams twice to win the region.
Covenant (24-20) will now have to wait and see if they are selected as an at-large for the NCCAA Baseball National Championships in Mason, Ohio, on May 16-19.
Scots Suffer First Region Loss
Posted May 9, 2012MAYFIELD, Ky. -- Plagued by untimely errors, the Covenant Scots baseball team suffered its first loss in the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament on Wednesday night as they fell to Bluefield College 7-4. Covenant now faces an elimination game on Thursday when they face Mid-Continent at 1 p.m. The Scots defeated the host Cougars 5-3 on Tuesday night.
Three Run Sixth Lifts Covenant over Mid-Continent

MAYFIELD, Ky. -- Covenant fell behind early, but battled back with three runs in the sixth inning and one more in the seventh inning as the Scots defeated top-seed Mid-Continent 5-3 in game three of the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament on Tuesday night. Covenant advances in the winners bracket with the win and will face Bluefield College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Covenant was shut down offensively for the first five innings by Mid-Continent starter Tomas Rodriguez. The Scots loaded the bases with nobody out in the fourth inning on three straight singles, but Rodriguez worked out of the jam with a strikeout and a double play.
Strong Start from Rice Pushes Scots to Win at Regional
Posted May 8, 2012MAYFIELD, Ky. -- Starting pitcher Keith Rice allowed no earned runs in a seven-inning complete-game effort and the Covenant offense erupted for four runs in the fourth inning as the Scots moved into the winners bracket at the NCCAA Mid-East Region tournament with a 6-2 win over Hiwassee College.

Rollins Named Region Player of the Year

MAYFIELD, Ky. -- The 2012 NCCAA Mid-East All-Region team was announced Monday night and Covenant senior James Rollins was recognized as Region Player of the Year as voted on by region coaches. David Lockwood earned All-Region status and three other Scots received honorable mention.
Rollins' accomplishment is his second player of the year award this season after being honored by the GSAC. This marks the second straight season that a Covenant player has been awarded Mid-East Region Player of the Year as Taylor Oldham won it last season.
Baseball Prepares for NCCAA Mid-East Regional
Posted May 7, 2012LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Coming off another solid regular season, the Covenant Scots baseball team heads to Mayfield, Ky., this week for the NCCAA Baseball Mid-East Region Tournament hosted by Mid-Continent University. The champion of the tournament will claim an automatic berth into the NCCAA Baseball Championships in Mason, Ohio, on May 16-19.
Scots Finish Season with Split at Point

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- The Covenant Scots finished off the regular season against the Point University Skyhawks on Saturday afternoon. The two teams split the games with Point taking game one 2-1, before Covenant secured a split with a 14-0 win in game two.
The Scots wrap-up the regular season with a record of 22-18, while Point moves to 26-29 for the season. Covenant will now await word on its first opponent in the 2012 NCCAA Mid-East Regional Baseball Tournament on May 8-11 hosted by Mid-Continent (Ky.) University.
Baseball Scots Earn GSAC Awards, Rollins Named Player of the Year

DECATUR, Ga. -- The Great South Athletic Conference announced its baseball awards on Thursday morning and several Covenant players were honored. Most notably, James Rollins was named Player of the Year in the conference, while K.C. Simons and Scott Gillespie received All-Freshman honors.
A senior from Hixson, Tenn., Rollins has hit just about everything thrown his way this spring. The senior is currently hitting .479, which is tops in the GSAC, along with 19 doubles, four home runs, and 27 RBIs.
