Covenant Basketball Lands Second Crossville Graduate

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Tyler Gaylor, a 5’11 Guard from Crossville High School, has committed to join the Covenant basketball family.  

After a decorated and highly successful career at Crossville High School, Tyler Gaylor will look to have an immediate impact with the Scots next season.  A player capable of contributing in multiple areas, Tyler averaged 9.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.6 steals per game as a senior.  His assist and steal totals were tops on the team, and he also led the team in charges taken.  

Lady Scots Basketball Program Finds New Head Coach in Corey Mullins

Corey MullinsLOOKOUT  MOUNTAIN -- Corey Mullins, former women's assistant coach at Bryan College and head men's coach at both Boyce College (Louisville, KY) and Kentucky Christian University (Grayson, KY), has been hired to lead Covenant's basketball team beginning in the 2010-2011 season.  As the team's third head coach in as many years, Mullins will look to improve on last year's 10-15 record and first round bow-out of the NCCAA region tournament.

 
Mullins graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2003 with a degree in business education.  Straight out of college, he began working as Matt Bollant's assistant with the Bryan women's team.

Scot Taylor Oldham Named to Coastal Plain League All-Star Team

Taylor OldhamLOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Covenant's shortstop Taylor Oldham, a more recent member of the Martinsville Mustangs of the CPL, has been selected to the league's 2010 All-Star game to be held in Forest City, North Carolina Tuesday, July 20th.  Oldham will unfortunately be unable to participate in the event due to injury, but the honor is nonetheless truly esteeming.

Dallas Native to Join Scots

Alexander WeirLOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Alexander Weir, a 6'1 Point Guard from Dallas, TX, has committed to Covenant College for the 2010-2011 season.

Alexander, who graduated from the Cambridge School in Dallas, averaged 20 points per game during his senior season.  A five sport athlete at Cambridge, Alexander participated in Basketball, Cross-Country, Track, Soccer, and Crew, enjoying great success as a prep athlete.  

Weir's accomplishments include state championships in Track and Cross-Country, All-District nods in Basketball as a Jr. and Sr., 4 years as an All-State selection in Cross-Country, and a 2nd team All-District selection in Soccer as a Sr.

Covenant Soccer Alum to Coach 2010 Alabama All-Star Team

HUNTSVILLE, AL -- Former Lady Scot goalie Lindsey Fain was selected to coach the South All-Stars in this year's Alabama state all-star game.  The game- held Monday night at the John Hunt Soccer Complex in Huntsville- marks the beginning of the sixth annual "All-Star Sport Week," in which Alabama's high school soccer, football, and baseball all-star events will take place.  Fain, who has been the head girl's coach at Providence Christian High School in Dothan since 2005, will coach alongside Jason Richardson of Murphy High School, Jasper Rogers of Parker High School, and Jay Bruner
