LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Coming off their first win in nearly two months, the Covenant Scots had a lot of momentum going into Friday night’s contest with the Rust College Bearcats. The visitors, though, took control of the game early and withstood a couple of late Covenant runs to come away with a 90-81 victory.
Covenant drops to 5-14 overall after the loss, while Rust improves to .500 at 10-10.

Posted January 27, 2012LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The women's basketball home game against Salem College on Saturday, January 28 has been canceled. At this time, no potential makeup date has been announced.
The Lady Scots will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 1 against Maryville College at Barnes Physical Education Center. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
Piedmont Breaks Away In First Half, Edges Lady Scots
Posted January 26, 2012LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- In a back and forth game with 48 total turnovers, Piedmont College came out on top 63-44 against the Lady Scots basketball team on Wednesday night. Piedmont College is now 14-3 overall and 6-2 in the GSAC, while Covenant drops to 5-12 and 4-5 in the conference.
For the first 10 minutes of the game the teams went back and forth. From then, Piedmont went on a 15-0 streak to go ahead 31-20 with just over three minutes left in the half. Covenant was able to get some buckets to break the scoring run, but Piedmont still took a 39-25 lead into halftime.
Engbers’ Huge Half Helps Scots Snap Losing Skid

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant Scots basketball team can breathe a heavy sigh of relief. Their 12-game losing streak is over.
Freshman Bryant Engbers scored 24 first half points to propel the Scots to a 91-78 win over GSAC foe Piedmont College on Wednesday night in Barnes Physical Education Center. Covenant had not won a game since defeating Sewanee back on November 29.
Engbers scored from everywhere in the first 20 minutes of play. The forward connected on 9-of-11 from the field, including one 3-pointer, and was a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.
Jessie Blankenship Named Covenant Player Of The Week

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Coming off back-to-back double-doubles, sophomore forward Jessie Blankenship has been named Covenant’s Player of the Week for Jan. 16 - Jan. 21. This marks the third time this year that Blankenship has received this honor.
The Lexington, S.C. native helped get the Lady Scots back into the win column with a 19 point, 10 rebound performance in a 60-55 win over Spelman College on Jan. 18. Blankenship followed that up with 15 points and 11 rebounds, including seven on the offensive side, in a 72-63 loss at conference foe Huntingdon College on Jan. 21.
